Thorntons’ Great Chocolate Britain winner to be announced this Chocolate Week
Friday 13th July 2012
To celebrate a brilliantly British year in 2012, Thorntons is launching its ‘Great Chocolate Britain’ competition, to see who can come up with the best chocolate flavours to represent their region. Maybe you like the idea of real Somerset Cider flavoured chocolate, or prefer a hint of Cornish sea salt in your chocolate? There are so many flavours that represent Britain, and Thorntons would love to hear your views on which ones would pair perfectly with chocolate.
Thorntons is searching for imaginative British chocolate creations from all over Britain. What chocolate flavour would best represent Scotland, Northern Ireland, the North West, the North East, Yorkshire & Humberside, the West Midlands, the East Midlands, East Anglia, London & the South East, the South West and Wales? The Great British public will be casting their votes to decide on the best flavour from each region, and an overall winner to be announced during this year’s Chocolate Week.
The competition closes at the end of July, when a panel of experts will take a look at all entries and decide on a top three for each region. It’s then down to the great British public to make their choice!
You can submit your ideas and creations online at www.thorntons.co.uk/greatchocolatebritain for a chance to win a money-cant-buy chocolatey prize. The lucky winner will have the opportunity to visit Thornton Park in Derbyshire to witness their chocolate idea taking shape in the kitchen with Thorntons’ chocolatiers, as well as receiving a year’s supply of Thorntons chocolate. The winner’s chocolate creation will also be launched as part of a new Thorntons’ Handmade Collection, which will be available in stores in October.
Looking for some inspiration? Have a look at Thorntons’ Best of British range, which was launched earlier this year in celebration of Britain’s big year! Thorntons not only launched iconic products such as chocolate flag plaques and chocolate buses, but also a new collection of flavours such as Jam Roly Poly, Apple Pie & Custard, Bakewell Tart and Lemon Sussex Pond.
